Truman

14 years ago the cutest little red weenie dog was born. 4 months into Chad and I's marriage we got our puppy. We named him Truman because it meant faithful and we figured everyone wants a faithful dog.

Truman loved chewing and licking. And licking...and licking... He helped Chad hunt mice that had made their way into our yard or find them on his own and sacrifice them to us. Until he became an old man he smelt like syrup!

I believe 7 years ago Truman helped our boys ease into calling our place home-he was cheerful, gentle, and loved to cuddle. JD called him "tricky". Tricky soon became JD's dog. They had a bond. Truman trusted JD. And JD was the best caregiver ever for the little weenie dog.

Until last week Truman barked for every meal as tho it was his first in years. He loved finding a warm spot to soak in the sun, he burrowed under covers to snooze... But his site and hearing began diminishing... So we prayed and felt the Lord bless the time to let him go.

He is now in heaven with one of his favorite people ever (my mom-he would find a way to get in bed and snuggle with her despite closed doors!). I cannot imagine doing this without the hope of Jesus! Our boys are grieving while being so courageous!

Grateful my brother snapped some pictures for us Monday. Thanks JB
